Noland Creek, Great Smokies National Park

I thought a weekend alone in the Smokies would be a great way to kick off the season, so I packed up my gear and secured a backcountry site in the Great Smokies National Park, just outside Bryson City, NC.  Nothing beats a few days in the woods casting to wild trout in a wilderness environment, unless you get the rainbow/brown/brook trout trifecta.  Look for rainbows and browns in the lower stretches.  Hike above Solola Valley for the brookies.
